YAA Projects was engaged by Public Practice to lead the production of Public Notice, the organisation’s annual magazine celebrating architecture and public space delivered through the public sector. Building on the pilot, we led the production of the second edition in, shaping both its editorial agenda and its wider strategic impact.

Themed around A Better Everyday’, Issue Two explores everyday placemaking across three interrelated strands: Public Housing, Public Places and Public Processes, using a clear editorial taxonomy of Case Studies, Deep Dives, Community Spotlights and Conversations. This structure allowed the publication to move between project-specific analysis and broader reflections on policy, governance and delivery.

YAA Projects managed all aspects of the project, convening and directing contributors, photographers and collaborating with a graphic designer to establish a coherent editorial and graphic identity and set out a clear curatorial voice.

Working with Public Practice, we defined KPIs including tripling sales, broadening geographical representation, maximising audience reach across multiple media channels and extending the life of the magazine’s assets through a year-long digital release strategy.

Editorial projects such as Public Notice function as soft infrastructure, shaping how public-sector work is understood, valued, and advocated for beyond the page. By organising content through Case Studies, Deep Dives, Community Spotlights and Conversations, the publication positions architecture within the full complexity of policy, place and practice, encouraging dialogue and a deeper appreciation of the public realm as an everyday civic endeavour.
